New York, NY – Resident has been hailed by Forbes as “the most exclusive dining experience in all of New York”. The culinary platform company connects fans of fine dining with the actual chefs who create delicious delicacies. The chef’s-table events allow each gourmet chef to create their own custom menu, greet the diners, and introduce each course personally.
Michelin whimsically describes Resident as a pop-up supper club, and admires how the company partners with luxury residential spaces and invites a limited number of guests to participate in each event. Michelin says, “The combo of gastronomy and real estate is peak New York.”
Solanki Roy created a unique poetry-themed experience for Resident. Resident routinely changes up their luxurious dining locations and their menu themes. As Solanki Roy’s Resident dinner occurred in February, it seemed perfect to go with a romance theme. But as innovative as Solanki always is, it had to be something just a little extra – so, in collaboration with former marketing head Alexandra Looney and beverage director Jessica Abate. The idea was to celebrate an era of romanticism with food and poetry.
The menu featured East and West coast oysters with ponzu mignonette, bamboo salt, and caviar; mushroom miso soup with grilled maitake, rye, and caviar; spaghetti with Meyer lemon cream, black truffle, and caviar; poached salmon with black bean salsa and caviar butter; and a rose and lychee raspberry tart.
The challenge was also providing the absolute highest quality of luxury dining, which is what fans of Resident have come to expect.
Resident began as a collaboration with Exclusive Resorts, a members-only vacation club that owns approximately 400 properties worldwide. Members enjoy access to fully-furnished luxury locations and pay handsomely for the privilege. Resident brings chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants directly to Exclusive Resorts’ New York City locations. Resident was born during the pandemic, when foodies craved the fine-dining experience during quarantine. Ticketed events are open to the public, not just for Exclusive Resorts members, meaning that anyone can enjoy the best in exclusive gourmet fare.
Resident offers venues in the best NYC neighborhoods. You may find yourself arriving at a penthouse with panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline; a 3000 square foot mansion in the East Village; or an art deco-inspired lounge at Rockefeller Center. Resident also offers, subject to availability, platinum-level educational experiences such as interactive cooking demonstration, wine tastings, mixology classes, caviar tasting, and more.
What Solanki Roy loved about her experience with Resident was the one-on-one aspect between chef and patrons. She relished the opportunity to connect with the diners and explain each course, why it was chosen, and what flavor notes the guests should expect. It allowed for a deeper connection between creator and customer.
As Solanki is always mindful of global good, she also appreciates that Resident is a proud supporter of the James Beard Foundation’s Open for Good, a campaign designed to help independently-owned restaurants survive the pandemic.
